A fraudster who stole a dead girl's identity then posed as a reverend for twenty years while falsely claiming £250,000 in benefits has been jailed for seven years. Yvonne Doyle used the birth certificate of four-year-old Carol Ann Naylor, who died in 1951, to obtain a fake passport, driving licence and national insurance number which she then used to claim housing and disability benefits. In her defence, the 63-year-old said that the charges were part of a 'fatwa' issued against her in her native South Africa and that because of the involvement of 'Jews and Freemasons' she wouldn't get a fair trial - even though fatwas are usually associated with the Islamic faith. Between 1990 and 2010 Doyle, from Milton Keynes, Bucks, claimed a total of £265,000 in benefits while posing as Reverend Naylor, occasionally using the identity of a second person, Bridgette Meally, who died in 1999.
