SPORTS:Twelve Nigerian Women To Participate During World's Basketball Championship.
After due clearance from Africa basketball
federation , FIBA, the Nigeria Basketball
Federation , NBBF, in consultation with the
technical crew of the national women’s
basketball team has announced a squad of
twelve players, four coaches and two
medical personnel for the 2013 Afrobasket
for women which started Friday in Maputo,
Mozambique.
The twelve players were checked for drug
use, age cheat and injuries.
According to the list, the team is captained
by Helen Ogunjimi. Other members include
Chioma Udeaja, Magdaline Ukato, Sarah
Ogoke, Ndidi Madu, Tolu Omotola, Justina
Udenze, Grace Okonkwo, Joyce
Ekworomadu, Rashidat Sadiq, Nkechi
Akashili and Upe Atosu.
Scott Nnaji heads the coaching team, with
Lateef Erifolami, Adewunmi Aderemi and
Emmanuel Odah as assistants; while Nkechi
Enendu is team doctor and Amaka Enebe,
physiotherapist.
Meanwhile, two matches have already been
decided with favourites, Senegal, shooting
down Egypt 100-69 and Mali overpowering
Cape Verde 73-62. The Nigeria- Angola
match will take place on Friday evening.
Other matches scheduled for Friday are
Cameroon vs. Kenya, Mozambique vs.
Zimbabwe and Cote d’Ivoire vs. Algeria.
